The Bhote Koshi River Rafting is best described as a liquid rush! As steep as it gets with constant rapids, this two-day trip is a full-body workout and the skill and determination of the paddle crew is tested to the limit. The Bhotekosi River roughly translated as ‘river from Tibet’, although little more than a mountain stream has one of the steepest gradients of any ratable river in Nepal. There are two rafting seasons, The best season is September following the monsoon and extending through October, November and sometimes early December. The second season follows the spring thaw from March to May, the best water being in April/ May. It would be great if you could combine the Marsyangdi or the Kali Gandaki with any of our treks in the Annapurna Region. If you are short of time we can arrange an airfare back from Pokhara to Kathmandu (or vice-versa). Keen to see a tiger? Add on a jungle safari to Chitwan or Bardia National Park.
The Bhote Koshi River is one of the most technical rivers in Nepal, providing continuous, challenging rapids from start to finish. It has been likened to a pinball machine and you’re the ball, which is certainly how it feels, with one intense rapid after another. It is exhilarating and fun and you will love running it! It is full of nasty drops, pour-overs and huge bumping boulders. With an experienced guide, it is a great first river for beginners, while having more than enough to challenge and thrill for an experienced rafter! Our guides know exactly where to put the raft to get the most out of this river and to avoid spills. The Bhotekosi River Rafting is without a doubt one of the most exciting short rafting trips in the world! Ready for action, ready for fun? If this sounds like you then this river is the one. No experience is necessary but you must be prepared to either throw yourself into the paddling or get ready for a flip!
We drive from Kathmandu to The Last Resort located near the Nepal-Tibet border, 100km from Kathmandu. Upon reaching The Last Resort, we spend time abseiling, sliding, jumping, climbing and swimming. Feeling the adrenalin buzz while leaping off waterfalls and sliding down glass-smooth rocks will be an amazing experience. Overnight at The Last Resort.
This day is set aside for white water rafting, one of the most popular adventure sports in Nepal. While rafting, we come across all kinds of rapids not too far from one another. Battling these rapids will be a challenge. However, we also occasionally raft through calm sections of the river. During this time we admire the natural beauty of the surrounding areas. The green vegetation, curious villagers and the river banks are ours to marvel at. After completing our rafting journey, we head back to Kathmandu around evening and spend the night there.
