Dinner and breakfast with monks in a special guesthouse are placed on the top of a mountain ridge at the rim of the Kathmandu valley. This site is one of the most sacred in all of Nepal. Staying here means being in the midst of monastery life with 250 monks, studying and praying. Built in the Himalayan foothills 2 hours out of Kathmandu, it is a perfect spot for contemplation, study or retreat. No TV, radio or telephones — all you have are great views and quiet. Vegetarian meals are included.
During a retreat, participants immerse themselves in a structured and contemplative environment, away from the distractions of everyday life. They follow a daily schedule that includes meditation sessions, teachings from experienced monks or nuns, and communal activities like chanting and group discussions. The core practice is meditation, which helps individuals quiet their minds, gain insight into their thoughts and emotions, and foster a sense of inner tranquillity. Silence is often a fundamental aspect of these retreats, allowing participants to turn inward and focus on self-awareness. The peaceful natural surroundings of many monasteries also contribute to a serene atmosphere conducive to self-reflection
