Everest Base Camp Trek via Jiri also known as Classic Everest Base Camp Trek via Jiri takes you to one of the best viewpoints on earth, the Kala Patthar (4250 m, 13,945 ft), with an unequalled view of Everest and nearby mountains, and below the peaks is the Khumbu Glacier and picturesque valley. You be treated to tremendous Himalayan scenery with majestic peaks including Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nupste, Pumori, Thamserku, Kangde, and many more. This Himalayan landscape is populated by the famous high mountain people named the Sherpa following a customary way of life; the jiri Everest trekking offers a chance to witness the land of the Sherpa and visit stately Buddhist monasteries.
Everest Base Camp Trek via Jiri starts with an exciting tour of Kathmandu and busy marketplaces. You enjoy a picturesque drive to the starting point of the trek, Bhandara, in a lovely valley at the entry point for the Solu-Khumbu region, the Everest Base Camp Trek via Jiri heads east through the scenic foothills and valleys and their charming villages, You cross a few high passes before reaching the DudhKosi river valley, You follow this dramatically steep valley to Namche Bazaar, the gateway of the Khumbu Region. The settlement is located in a natural amphitheatre overlooking the valley with the astonishing beauty of the surrounding mountains; you take a day of rest in Namche to get accustomed to the altitude with the chance to explore the surrounding area and villages of Kunde and Khumjung.
Upon our arrival at the Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, we will be greeted by a representative from Tour and Trekking Nepal who will drop us off at our hotel. After checking in, we take a rest or visit Tour and Trekking Nepal’s office. We may also stroll in the streets of Thamel, a tourist hub in Kathmandu for some souvenir shopping. In the evening, there will be a welcome dinner hosted by Tour and Trekking Nepal. For dinner, you will be served excellent Nepalese cuisine which will introduce you to the country’s authentic food culture. Overnight in Kathmandu.
We start a guided tour of several of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu. Some of these landmarks including the historic Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the famous ‘Monkey Temple’ (Swayambhunath) and the Buddhist shrine (Bouddhanath) which is one of the largest stupas in the world are listed as the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. There will be a brief pre-trip group discussion followed by trek preparation in the late afternoon at Tour and Trekking Nepal’s office in Thamel around noon. Overnight in Kathmandu.
We start our driving journey quite early in the morning and drive via the Araniko highway to Lamosangu, While passing the old Newar towns of Banepa and Dhulikhel, you will get excellent panoramic views of the eastern Himalayas, including Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung and Dorjee Lakpa. The road descends to Panchkhal, then climbs over a ridge behind Dolalghat and follows the Sunkoshi north to Lamasangu, after passing several villages you will reach Jiri and still continue to Bhandara. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
We start our trek and today, our trail drops down to the Linkhu Khola, crosses the river at 1490m, and then follows it to Kenja at 1570m and another steep ascent to Chimbu and continuing further we finally reach Sete. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
We start our trek and the trail passes gradually up through Lamjura Pass (3530m), which is the highest point between Jiri and Namche Bazaar; it then descends through fir and rhododendron forest and emerges after one and half hrs at Taktor, still continues on the north side of the valley before dropping down to the Sherpa village of Junbesi, We spend the afternoon here exploring the village and the way of life of its inhabitants. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
We start our trek and Below Junbesi the trail crosses the Junbesi Khola on a wooden bridge, just beyond the bridge there is a trail junction, the route to Khumbu follows the left-hand trail that leads uphill then the trail turns north, descending through Salung. From the Dudh Koshi River {river of milk}, the trail ascends to Ringmo and the Tak-Shindo Pass, there are a few shepherds’ huts beside the trail, but the route is mostly hidden in dense forest, and the trail crosses several picturesque streams on wooden bridges just before reaching Nunthala (Manidingma). Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
After Ekle Bhatti crosses the gorge and half an hour walk on the right side we get to see the big and beautiful waterfall and enter the pine tree forests. Descend down to trail going to the Tsum Valley. Climb through pine and rhododendron forests. Enjoy the views of the Himalchuli mountains at 7893m and Boudha Himal from Lokpa, a small beautiful village. Pass Lokpa, descend half an hour towards Lungwa Khola and climb the jack difficult trail further two hours north through pines and rhododendrons we reach Gumlung. Crossing the Siyar Khola, finally arrive at Chumling, from where we can view Shringi Himal. Visit the old Chumling Gompa and the stone streets of the village. Overnight stay in Chumling. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
We start our trek and the trail ascends from Bupsa and on to Bhumsing, (2300m) then it continues to climb through a tributary valley filled with prickly leaned oak and rhododendron forest, where languor monkeys may occasionally be seen, descend and cross the next tributary after one hour, continue on the north side of the valley to reach Puiyan. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
We start our trek and the trail climbs for about an hour after Puiyan to the ridge at 2800m, followed by another ridge, the trail descends to Sukhe (Buwa) at 2293m, situated on a tributary of the Dudh Koshi, the trail remains above the village encircling it, the village of Surkhe, at the bridge crossing the tributary below, is 2 hrs from Puiyan, The trail now leaves this tributary valley and heads more directly north towards Chaurikharka, another dispersed village, before ascending to Chaurikharka (2713m) the main trail crosses a spectacular deep gorge with a high waterfall. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
We start our trek and continue trekking following the Dudh Koshi River and crossing it many times on the way, we enter the park in Jorsale. We will stop here for lunch as we rest our weary bones, and again we continue our trek, after a few hours of walking we reach the bustling Namche Bazaar which appears ahead as we travel along a path surrounded by pines, we pass the plateau where the Saturday bazaar is held and enter the village. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Today is a day for rest and chilling out at Namche Bazaar, this is really good for our acclimatization. It prevents any unforeseen altitude problems ahead on the trail as we go to higher altitudes on the trek, overnight at the Guest house. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
We start our trek towards Tengboche enjoying superb views of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam and close-up views of Thamserku, our trek follows on the gradual trail with few ups and downs overlooking magnificent views of the great Himalayas, along the way we can spot wild animals like pheasant, musk deer, or a herd of Himalayan Thar, The trail goes gradually down up to Kayangjuma. The path eventually reaches Sanasa which is the major trail junction to Gokyo Valley and Everest Base Camp.
The track then follows through the pine forests and after we cross the prayer flags festooned bridge over Dudh Koshi River, we reach Phunki Thenga, a small settlement with a couple of teahouses and a small army post amidst the alpine woods, after having a relaxed lunch at Phunki Thenga we then have a little tough climb steep up through the pine forests before we reach Tengboche. Tengboche is a great place for close-up views of Ama-Dablam, Nuptse, and Everest and it has the biggest Buddhist Monastery in the Khumbu region. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
We start our trek after having breakfast at the lodge by descending through the Rhododendron forest to the Imja Khola cross an exciting suspension bridge on the Imja Khola and walk passing by a long Mani stone wall to enter the village of Pangboche, our route continues through green summer pastures to Dingboche. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Today is a much looked forward day to acclimatize; It also gives us a breather to rest our lungs, there are some breathtaking views of the North face of Ama Dablam and the Lhotse-Nuptse ridge as we explore this beautiful valley that leads up to Island Peak, The walk is short with a good chance to relax in the afternoon. We have another option as we can hike up to Chhukum from where we can enjoy fantastic views of Island Peak, Ama Dablam, Makalu, Tawache Peak and others. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
We start our trek after having breakfast at the lodge and the onward Himalayan journey leads us north for up to 50 minutes until we come to a mani-prayer Stupa; then the trail gets gentle as we look down to Pheriche village below, today’s walk offers views of the Mt. Tawache, Ama Dablam and to the north-Pokalde (5741m) Kongma-Tse (5820m) and the great wall of Nuptse, after two hours of walking, the trail from Pheriche joins near Dughla (4595m) before a small wooden bridge over the river of Khumbu glacier, then we continue for an hour up a steep hill to the top, where there are views of Mt. Pumori and other peaks west of Everest, after a short break, we continue trekking up to Lobuche. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
we start our trek by following the rocky moraine path, and view the icy glacial ponds and icebergs down below the Khumbu glacier, after the last rocky moraine dunes, a short downhill walk brings us to Gorakshep, where we will stop for lunch and we leave all our stuff there at the lodge as this is the last place where their lodges are available. We start our Himalayan journey to the Everest Base camp – WOW!!! Congratulations!!! This is why you hiked up all the way; your dream comes true now, after spending some time in the Base Camp we return to Gorakshep for the night, it’s been a wonderful day after all.
We climb to Kala Patthar peak to enjoy the view of sunrise, and from Kala Patthar, we can have a panoramic view of Mt. Everest and many other mountain peaks like Mt. Pumori, Mt. Lingtren, Mt. Khumbetse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Thamserku and many more, after seeing the sunrise over those Himalayas, we trek down to Gorekshep and have breakfast and start trekking down to Pheriche. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
We start our trek and now, we are trekking back to Namche Bazaar, an easier descent trekking passing through rhododendron forest, Tengbuche is a small village with a famous monastery offering you the splendid view of Ama Dablam, green hills and river views where we stopped for lunch then we will trek back to Namche. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Following the same trail back, you trek to Lukla. Most parts of the trail will gradually descend through dense forests. From Phakding, you ascend through the forested trail to reach Lukla.
The flights to Kathmandu are usually scheduled for the morning for safety purposes. After reaching the capital city, we have the rest of the day off to pass the time as we please. We could take a rest in our hotel room or shop for souvenirs for our loved ones. In the evening, there will be a farewell dinner to celebrate the successful completion of your journey to the mountains. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Our journey in Nepal comes to an end today! A Tour and Trekking Nepal representative will drop us off at the airport approximately 3 hours before our scheduled flight. On our way home, we have plenty of time to plan our next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal
