About Everest View Trek:

The Everest View Trek, also known as the Everest Panorama Trek, is a popular trekking route in the Everest region of Nepal. Unlike the more challenging and longer treks that lead to Everest Base Camp or the Three Passes, the Everest View Trek is a shorter and less strenuous option that offers stunning views of the world’s highest mountain, Mount Everest (8,848 meters or 29,029 feet), along with other prominent peaks in the region. The Everest View Trek is a captivating journey through the stunning Khumbu region of Nepal, offering breathtaking vistas of the world’s tallest peak, Mount Everest. This short and relatively easy trek is perfect for those seeking a taste of the Himalayan wilderness without the strenuous demands of a full-scale Everest expedition.

The trail weaves through lush forests, charming Sherpa villages, and picturesque landscapes, allowing trekkers to experience the rich culture and warm hospitality of the local people. Along the way, you’ll encounter breathtaking panoramic views of Himalayan giants like Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam. The highlight of this trek is the visit to Tengboche Monastery, a serene Buddhist temple perched on a hilltop, providing an awe-inspiring backdrop of Everest and Ama Dablam. Trekkers often participate in morning prayers, adding a spiritual dimension to the journey.

Although the Everest View Trek doesn’t reach the Everest Base Camp, it provides an unforgettable glimpse into the majesty of the Himalayas, making it a perfect choice for those seeking a shorter, less strenuous Himalayan adventure. It’s an ideal introduction to the region’s natural beauty and cultural richness, suitable for trekkers of all levels of experience.

Everest View Trek Highlights:

  • Trek along the easiest trails in  the Khumbu region
  • Marvel at the panoramic views of Everest and the neighbouring Himalayas
  • Hike up to  Tengboche Gumba at 3,867 meters
  • Appreciate the unique and rich cultures of the world-famous Sherpas

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu:

You will be picked up at the airport by one of the Tour and Trekking Nepal staff and driven to your Kathmandu host family or a hotel. Here you will be welcomed into the family, be given your own room and be provided with all your meals while in Kathmandu. This will be your home during your orientation and volunteering in Nepal. With easy bus routes into town and the surrounding countryside, this quiet and safe suburb is the perfect base for your time in Nepal. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 02: Kathmandu: Sightseeing and Trek Preparation:

We tour Durbar Square, Pashupatinath temple, Swayambhunath stupa and Bouddhanath stupa which are all world heritage sites. The Durbar Square sheds light on the life of the royals in ancient times. Pashupatinath temple is one of the most important places of pilgrimage for all Hindus. Swayambhunath is also known as the Monkey Temple and Baudhanath Stupa is one of the largest stupas in the world. At noon, we are introduced to our fellow participants and discuss our trip at the Tour and Trekking Nepal office. Overnight in Kathmandu. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 03: Kathmandu – Lukla to Phakding Trek:

We take an early morning flight to Lukla which is where all Everest treks begin. We meet the rest of our team in Lukla and start trekking from there. We walk on a trail that gradually descends to Cheplung village from where we get a glimpse of Mt. Khumbila, a sacred mountain which has never been climbed. From here, we gradually descend to Phakding. Overnight stay in Phakding.

Day 04: Phakding to Namche Bazaar Trek:

Our trail passes through a pine forest and we continue our walk on the trail that goes north up the Benkar valley. We cross Dudh Koshi River and pass Chumoa and Monjo villages before reaching the entrance of the Everest National Park. Then after crossing a suspension bridge, we pass Jorsale village and walk alongside of the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers. We ascend on a steep trail and reach Namche Bazaar which is probably the biggest town in the Everest region. Overnight stay in Namche Bazaar.

Day 05: Namche Bazaar: Rest and Acclimatization Day:

We can tour Namche Bazaar which is the primary town of the Everest or Khumbu region and has government offices, ATMs, internet cafes, shops, restaurants, and a colorful market. We can hike-up to Sagarmatha National Park and enjoy the sunrise over the Himalayas including Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kongde and so on. If we are interested in a day hike, we can trek to Khumjung village. Today we also visit the Hillary School and a monastery which houses a yeti scalp! Overnight stay in Namche Bazaar

Day 06: Namche Bazaar to Khumjung Village  Trek :

Today’s journey starts with a climb up to the famous airstrip at Syangboche. Just above the airstrip is the Everest View Hotel from where we can enjoy an up-close view of the mighty Everest. We continue trekking to Khumjung village which is surrounded by Kondge, Thamserku and the sacred Khumbila mountains. While here, we visit the Edmund Hillary School and Khumjung Monastery (a monastery famous for housing the head of the Yeti!). Overnight stay in Khumjung.

Day 07:  Khumjung Village to  Tengboche Trek:

We descend to Dudhkoshi River and pass through beautiful villages on the way. We walk on a forest trail which will take us to a riverbed. Next, we ascend for around two more hours through pine and fir forests to reach a small village of Tengboche. The village is also home to the famous Tengboche Gumba which is situated at 3,867 m and is the largest monastery in the Khumbu region of Nepal. We tour the Gumba and enjoy a panoramic view of the Himalayas, including Tawache, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Everest. Overnight stay in Tengboche.

Day 08: Tengboche to Kyangjuma Trek:

From Tengboche, a steep descent of about 1500ft/500m will take us through rhododendron bushes and fir trees to the Dudh Koshi River. We continue on our trail and pass the Tashinga and Sansa villages before reaching Kyangjuma. While here, we get to appreciate spectacular views of Ama-dablam, Thamserku, Nuptse, Lhotse and Everest. Overnight stay in Kyangjuma.

Day 09: Kyangjuma to Monjo Trek:

We have to reach Namche Bazaar first then continue to Monjo. The trail clings to the steep wooded slope beyond Kyangjuma, winding through several bends. We keep an eye for wildlife such as mountain goats, snow leopards, colourful pheasants, etc. when passing through a forest trail. A steep descent takes us to a bridge over the Dudh Koshi River. We cross the river twice at separate locations before reaching Monjo. Overnight stay in Monjo.

Day 10: Monjo to Lukla Trek:

The trail descends steeply before it cuts up to the airstrip in Chauri Kharka. On the way, we pass Phakding and Chopling villages. The climb from Chauri Kharka is the final climb of the trek. As the local staff you met in Lukla will not be accompanying you to Kathmandu, today is the last day you celebrate your accomplishment together. Overnight stay in Lukla.

Day 11: Lukla to Kathmandu:

We catch an early morning flight to Kathmandu after our long mountain journey. After reaching Kathmandu, we can take a rest or do some souvenir shopping. If we want to explore any other areas of Kathmandu, we may do that today. Our guides can help you with both souvenir shopping or sightseeing. There will be a farewell dinner in the evening to celebrate the successful completion of our journey. Overnight stay in Kathmandu

Day 12: Farewell friend and departure/Fly back home:

Our journey in Nepal comes to an end today! A Tour and Trekking Nepal representative will drop us off at the airport approximately 3 hours before our scheduled flight. On our way to home, we have plenty of time to plan our next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal
