Ghorepani Ghandruk Village Trek lies in the Annapurna Region Trek, it is one of the shortest and most popular trekking routes in the Annapurna region. The trail takes you through gorgeous valleys and offers you splendid varieties of natural beauty, and unique experiences with the magnificent views of the Annapurna Region including majestic Himalayan peaks namely, Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna South, Nilgiri, Tukuche peak, Dhampus peak, Machhapuchhre, (6993m), Annapurna II, III, IV, Lamjung Himal, Dhaulagiri I (8167m) and among others. The trail takes you up to, the foothill of the Annapurna massif. Ghorepani Ghandruk Village Trek is one of the most beautiful treks that combine easy walking with majestic scenery and a mix of cultures unmatched by any other trek in Nepal. The trail starts from lowland villages and rice into the Annapurna Himal. Hill is a viewpoint to see the Annapurna Machhapuchhre (Mt. Fishtail), Mt. Dhaulagiri to the north and the transcendental valley to the south.

Ghorepani Ghandruk Village Trek is dominated by the Gurung and Magars both ethnic groups of Nepal. While descending on the way back to Pokhara, we pass through the paved courtyards of Ghandruk village, another popular traditional village of Gurung and there we can experience their age-old tradition and culture and interact with the local people. The trek is full of beautiful sceneries with lots of remarkable moments.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu:

Upon your arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, you will be welcomed by a representative from Venture Nepal Trekking and Volunteering. After sorting out your customs formalities (Visa etc) you will be then transferred to the hotel. The representative will help you check into your designated hotel and give you some time to freshen up. After this, we will attend an orientation about your trek led by our Trekking leader over a typical Nepali welcome dinner that will include a scintillating cultural dance performed by the local belles. You then return to your hotel for your first overnight in the Valley of the Gods. Overnight stay at the hotel in Kathmandu. Meals: Dinner.

Day 2: Kathmandu: Sightseeing and Trek Preparation:

Kathmandu is the cultural heart of Nepal and has been a famous destination for tourists ever since Nepal opened its borders to visitors. The city displays an interesting combination of Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism and Western influence in the Valley. Patan and Bhaktapur, the two important neighbouring cities bear much cultural and religious significance to Nepal’s landscape. There will be a full-day guided tour of the historic Durbar Square, unique architecture and Kumari (living goddess), the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupati Nath, the famous ‘Monkey Temple’ (Swayambunath) and Buddhist shrine (Buddha Nath), in the evening, there will be a pre-trip discussion where we meet our trek leader and other stuff for your adventure trip. Overnight stay at the hotel. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 3: Drive to Pokhara:

Early morning at around 6:30 am, we drive by tourist bus to Pokhara along the Trishuli and Marshyadgdi Rivers through the beautiful countryside of Nepal that offers villages, Rivers greeneries, rice fields and wonderful mountain sceneries. ‘City of Lakes’ Pokhara offers superb views of Annapurna including, Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Manaslu, Mt. Machhapuchhre (Fish tail) and others. We can explore the beautiful natures, caves, temples and Lakes, during the afternoon -enjoy boating too. Overnight stay at the hotel. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 4: Nayapul – Tikhedhunga Trek :

We will drive to Nayapul and start the trek to Birethanti along the Modi River. We walk to the northern side of Bhurungdi Khola, the trail climbs through the bamboo forest and passes a big waterfall and swimming hole, we continue to follow the trail and reach Ramghai where we will have lunch. After lunch, the trail climbs steadily up the side of the valley, reaching Tikhe Dhunga. Overnight stay at the hotel. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 5: Tikhedhunga – Ghorepani Trek:

From Tikhe Dhunga the trail crosses the Burundi Khola on a suspension bridge and then climbs continuing to Ghorepani via very steeply up to Ulleri village (2,080m) with the amazing landscape and the Himalayan scenery. The trail climbs gently through pastures and cultivated fields. We continue to cross two sparkling streams before making a short, final climb to Nangethanti where we stop for lunch. The name Ghorepani in Nepali means “horse-water. Ghorepani is a fascinating place with small shops and stalls for selling local products and crafts. Since Ghorepani lies quite higher than our previous stop. Overnight stay at the hotel. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 6: Hike up to Poon Hill – then Tadapani Trek:

In the early morning, we take to ascend to poon Hill (3,210m) to catch the spectacular sunrise view over the whole Annapurna, Dhaulagiri massif including Mt Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Mt Manaslu with surrounding rice terrace. After a great time returning to Ghorepani for breakfast, we continue the trek to Tadapani through the rhododendron forest. Overnight stay at the hotel. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 7: Tadapani – Ghandrung Trek:

We descend to Ghandrung village. It is a large Gurung village located above Modi Khola (river), offers excellent views of Annapapurna South, Gangapurna (7455m) Annapurna III (7555m) and Machapuchre, the trail mainly through forest and goes gently down. Evening explores the Gurung museum to learn about their traditional clothes and useful equipment. Overnight stay at the hotel. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 8: Ghandruk – Nayapul Trek then drive back to Pokhara:

This day you will start your trek after breakfast from Ghandruk to 2 and a half hours for Sauli-Bazar down and a flat walk and from Saulibazar another one and a half hours max easy and flat walk from the corner of Modi Khola for Birethanti for lunch. After lunch trek 25 min for Nayapool and drive back to Pokhara.

Day 9: Drive to Kathmandu:

Early morning at around 7:00 am, we drive by tourist bus to Kathmandu along the Trishuli and Marshyadgdi Rivers through the beautiful countryside of Nepal that offers villages, Rivers greeneries, rice fields and wonderful mountain sceneries. After nearly a 5 – 6 hour drive we arrive in Kathmandu. Your day is free, however, at even tide; you will be taken to a well-known Nepali kitchen for a delicious farewell dinner of the original Nepalese cuisine. As you enjoy your meal, you will also be entertained by an exciting cultural dance performed by the local bells. You will enjoy this experience which is complimentary on behalf of the Volunteer Society Treks. Overnight at hotel.

Day 10: Transfer to the airport for your onward flight home sweet home:

Our office representatives will escort you to the airport for your connecting flight home. It has been wonderful meeting you and knowing you all of these weeks. We are doubly sure you’ve had the vacation of a lifetime & we hope you will pass on your experiences to the generations to come. We will remember you and also hope you will remember us in the days ahead.
