Kathmandu and Bardia National Park Tour in Nepal would offer a diverse and captivating experience, combining cultural exploration in the Kathmandu Valley with wildlife and nature encounters in Bardia National Park. Kathmandu Valley and Bardia National Park Safari Tour presents a blend of cultural tours and wildlife activities over 8 days. We begin by visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the Kathmandu Valley, which features a magnificent collection of architectural wonders, ancient traditions, and exquisite woodcraft. Next, we head to Nagarkot, a hilltop town that provides stunning views of the sunrise and sunset amidst the Himalayas.
We then explore the largest national park of Nepal, Bardia, and its sub-tropical forests, where we can enjoy exciting jungle activities such as nature walks, jeep safari, bird-watching, and float safari. Along with the adventure, we also get a chance to immerse ourselves in the authentic Tharu culture of western Nepal during our stay at the Bardia National Park.
You will be picked up at the airport by one of the Tour and Trekking Nepal staff and driven to your Kathmandu host family or a hotel. Here you will be welcomed into the family, be given your own room and be provided with all your meals while in Kathmandu. This will be your home during your orientation and volunteering in Nepal. With easy bus routes into town and the surrounding countryside, this quiet and safe suburb is the perfect base for your time in Nepal. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
We tour Durbar Square, Pashupatinath temple, Swayambhunath stupa and Bouddhanath stupa which are all world heritage sites. The Durbar Square sheds light on the life of the royals in ancient times. Pashupatinath temple is one of the most important places of pilgrimage for all Hindus. Swayambhunath is also known as the Monkey Temple and Baudhanath Stupa is one of the largest stupas in the world. At noon, we are introduced to our fellow participants and discuss our trip at the Tour and Trekking Nepal office. Overnight in Kathmandu. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Patan Durbar Square is rich in ancient arts and architecture. We also visit Bhaktapur, an irresistible city with an authentic local lifestyle preserved over centuries of isolation from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu. While in the city square, we get to admire the Nyata-Pola Temple, the Golden Gate, water spouts and the 55 Window Palace which merge together to provide an ambience of a magical outdoor theatre to its visitors. We also immerse ourselves in the authentic delicacy of the locals in Bhaktapur.
We transfer you to the Kathmandu Airport to fly to Nepalganj. You fly to Nepalganj and on your arrival at Nepalgunj airport, our staff receive you and transfer you to our Lodge. You will be offered refreshments and be given a briefing on our lodge and its facilities, after being given your programs for the day, your room will then be allocated to you and overnight at the lodge.
We will venture deep into the woods on foot, accompanied by a nature guide and porter. The steamy jungles of Bardia are home to a number of wild animals, including the Asian elephant, one-horned rhinoceros, spotted deer, hog deer, barking deer, sambar, swamp deer, black buck, wild boar, royal Bengal tiger, leopard, golden jackal, striped hyena, and others. There are also towers (Machan) at various locations within the jungle where we can wait for unsuspecting wildlife to pass us by. Our experienced nature guide will help us track the animals. After the jungle tour, we will return to our resort, enjoy dinner, and participate in the traditional Tharu dance.
We take a one-hour drive to Chisapani, a village on the Karnali River. Here, we embark on a Safari float, a gentle way to explore the river and its wildlife in western Nepal. Accompanied by a trained guide, we’ll float down the river, admiring the sub-tropical landscape and catching glimpses of wild animals quenching their thirst in the Karnali River. We may even spot some endangered Gharial crocodiles, marsh muggers, and Gangetic dolphins that call the river home. This trip is also ideal for bird-watching, as there are many resident and migratory bird species in the Bardia National Park. We end the day with another Tharu cultural dance program and spend the night in Bardia National Park.
The following day, we start our morning with a delicious breakfast before heading out on a jeep safari. The jeep will take us through the dense jungles of Bardia, where we’ll have a chance to spot the park’s most famous inhabitants, including Bengal tigers, one-horned rhinoceroses, Asian elephants, and more. With our experienced nature guide by our side, we’ll track the wildlife and learn about the park’s ecosystem. After the jeep safari, we return to our resort for dinner and a relaxing evening. We can also choose to take a nature walk or participate in other optional activities offered by the resort. Overnight in Bardia National Park.
We set out on an exciting jeep safari through the rugged terrain of Bardia National Park. A jeep safari offers a more thrilling and adventurous way to explore the wilds than the traditional elephant-back safari. We will be accompanied by a trained naturalist who will help us spot and identify various wildlife such as one-horned rhinos, Bengal tigers, spotted deer, and wild boars, among others. The jeep safari also offers a more immersive experience, allowing us to get closer to the wildlife and observe they are natural behaviour. After the safari, we return to Nepalgunj and take a flight to Kathmandu for an overnight stay.
Our journey in Nepal comes to an end today! A Tour and Trekking Nepal representative will drop us off at the airport approximately 3 hours before our scheduled flight. On our way to home, we have plenty of time to plan our next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.
