Our sojourns begin in ancient Kathmandu as we view a heady mix of traditions & culture that baffle the senses as we go sightseeing down Kathmandu’s cobblestone streets that’s a literal feast for the eyes as we come across busy market souks that sell modern wares by following ancient practices that include opening & closing of shops through superstitious beliefs that go back hundreds of years in time. Our tour takes us into ancient monuments that symbolize an era of feuding kings where conspiracy & tragedy were the order of the day. Some of the monuments we visit are UNESCO-declared World Heritage sites where the echoes of history still lives on in its medieval corridors as we view the delicately designed architecture so intricately worked creating artworks that are a connoisseur’s delight. Katmandu is a great confluence of the ancient that tries so hard to blend with the contemporary in this city of the gods & abundant temples where the cows roam as free as the wind blows.
Our tour extends itself to the beautiful lake city of Pokhara where we visit most of the prime tourist spots that include David’s fall & a Tibetan refugee centre. We also go up to the fantastic viewpoint of Sarangkot where a delightful sunrise stuns your senses & gives you awesome views of some of the most beautiful mountain landscapes in the world. Our tour in this junction for some of the most challenging expeditions in the world also includes some enjoyable boating on Pokhara’s famous Fewa Lake, a serene clean water lake that’s known throughout the world for its surrounding landscapes. Some of the world’s best extreme activities include paragliding, a zip flyer, & Avia microlight flights all have their base in this lovely lake city.
Our thrilling tour concludes with some adrenaline-gushing whitewater rafting on one of the sweetest rivers in Nepal & the world…the Trisuli River, where you can even raft all the way to the Chitwan National Park for a scintillating wildlife tour that will give you an exotic experience of a lifetime. We can do our rafting on the way to the Park or on our way back. Your put-in point can even take you to a point near the Park where a vehicle will be on standby to drive you for a short time right into the park itself. You will be picked up at the airport by one of the Tour and Trekking Nepal staff and driven to your Kathmandu host family or a hotel. Here you will be welcomed into the family, be given your own room and be provided with all your meals while in Kathmandu. This will be your home during your orientation and volunteering in Nepal. With easy bus routes into town and the surrounding countryside, this quiet and safe suburb is the perfect base for your time in Nepal. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
We begin our sightseeing tour by visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites within Kathmandu. Kathmandu Durbar Square showcases Nepalese art and architecture at its best. The architecture is typical of the Malla dynasty which ruled over Nepal from the 12th to the 18th century. Swayambhunath Temple is popular among foreigners as the Monkey Temple owing to the large monkey population residing in the area. Pashupatinath Temple is situated on the banks of river Bagmati and is one of the principal temples of Lord Shiva. The Bauddhanath Stupa is one of the largest stupas in South Asia which is built on the ancient trade route to Tibet.
Today we take an early morning breakfast and drive to Chitwan located 165 kilometres from Kathmandu. We descend down along the winding road on the banks of the Trishuli River. After checking in to the hotel, there will be a briefing on the activities we will be engaged in during our stay in Chitwan. We then walk on the banks of the Rapti River to enjoy the sunset in the sub-tropical jungles of Chitwan. In the evening, we enjoy dinner along with a brief cultural program showcasing the tribal dances unique to the Chitwan region of Nepal.
Early in the morning, we will be mounted on elephants for a jungle safari through dense grasslands to witness wildlife in its natural habitat. After breakfast, we visit the elephant stables and even enjoy bathing the elephants. During the afternoon we can drive through the jungles followed by a canoe ride down the Rapti River. While canoeing, we may get a close look at the Gharial and Mugger crocodiles along with freshwater dolphins, otters and varieties of water birds. Or, we may even go for bird watching or nature walks and come closer to a variety of wild flora and fauna found in the park. Overnight stay in Chitwan.
Full-day jungle activities in Chitwan – riding by Jeep and exploring the conservative area and observing the rich vegetation. The safari lets you have a great opportunity to encounter the great One Horned Rhino, Royal Bengal Tiger, and various wild animals, birds and amphibians. Also, enjoy the jungle walk, Bird watching and Canoeing in the Rapti River. Later in the evening walk to the Tharu Village, then return back to Hotel.
We will be regulating our journey to Pokhara, a significant tourism destination between the great Himalayas and the Mahabharata Range in the central region of the country. we see beautiful mountain views including Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and Fishtai. It is an enhancing city nestled in a tranquil valley, which is also the gateway to the world-famous Annapurna region trekking in Nepal.
We drive to Sarangkot for the sunrise. From Sarangkot, one can enjoy a clockwise view of snowcapped peaks, crystal-clear lakes, streams and gorges, and picturesque villages inhabited by friendly smiling Gurungs, Magars and other ethnic tribes. Sightseeing includes visits to nearby Tibetan villages, David’s Fall, Mahendra Cave, the famous Seti George and some beautiful temples like Bindhabasini Temple and Pokhara Museum
After breakfast, transfer to the Tourist bus station and 07: 00 am drive back to Kathmandu by tourist bus. This scenic drive offers fascinating glimpses of rural Nepal as you pass through Middle Hill scenery along the famous rafting Trishuli River originated from Tibet northeast of Kathmandu.
Our journey in Nepal comes to an end today! A Tour and Trekking Nepal representative will drop us off at the airport approximately 3 hours before our scheduled flight. On our way to home, we have plenty of time to plan our next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.
