Nagi Gumba is a popular monastery located in the middle of your journey to the Shivapuri Peak from the Pani Muhan where you will have lunch with nuns. The atmosphere here is enchanting, with the cool breeze and zen vibes flowing here endlessly. Undoubtedly, Nagi Gumba will serve as the perfect place to re-energize your tired body, mind, and soul. There are benches kept around the wide field that offers you comfort. Here, you can watch the yellow monastery, watch those flags nearby sway, watch the clouds above float, watch the birds fly, and, best of all, watch yourself loving the peace within you and around you. Indeed, much here is to be loved. For instance, a small glimpse of the simple life lived here by the nuns in service of the monastery and its visitors will please your hearts. You will see grown women and little girls wrapped in a red sari, yellow shirt and red shawl living the life of a ‘Ani’, a Buddhist nun. They don’t have much but warm hospitality, humble words, and a beautiful smile to give you, always and anytime! Since only nuns live here, this place is also known as Ani Gumba.
We start the day early with a pick up from your hotel, or place of stay in Kathmandu. The private transfer drives about an hour maximum to the gates of the Shivapuri National Park. Here after entrance formalities, you will walk with your guide for about two hours through this pristine forests to the Nagi Gompa Nunnery. Upon arrival at the nunnery, one gets some time to just wander around while the guide goes to check on the lunch that was prepared by the nuns. You then have the humble but delicious lunch, hang around for a while, before walking back to the gates to the awaiting car to go back to Kathmandu
