The popular hanging glacier below the summit represents the pendant of traditional Tibetan jewellery, the so-called Dablam. This all started when Tibetans migrated to Nepal 400 years ago. The necklaces are usually worn by Sherpa women. These Buddhist people decided Ama Dablam as one of their major holiest mountains in the Khumbu Region.
